FAQ

How do I compress a folder of images?
In Mintpix, choose an Input Folder, then choose an Output Folder, select your quality preset, and click Convert. Mintpix keeps your originals untouched and writes optimized images to your output folder.
Where are my output files saved?
Output files are saved to the folder you select as Output Folder. If you don’t see results, confirm Mintpix has permission to write there (see troubleshooting below).
Does Mintpix upload my photos?
No. Mintpix runs locally on your Mac. Images are processed on-device and are never uploaded to Mintpix servers.
Which formats are supported?
Mintpix supports common image formats such as JPEG and PNG, and can output web-optimized formats like WebP (depending on your selected settings). If a file can’t be decoded, Mintpix will skip it and report the issue.
Does Mintpix overwrite my originals?
Mintpix is designed to keep your originals safe. By default, it writes optimized copies to your chosen output folder. If you intentionally choose the same folder for input and output, review your settings carefully before converting.
How do I report a bug?
Email support with: (1) what you expected, (2) what happened, (3) macOS version, (4) Mintpix version, and (5) a screenshot. If possible, include a small sample image that reproduces the issue.

Troubleshooting

“Mintpix can’t access this folder” or nothing saves
On macOS, apps may require permission to read/write specific folders. Fix it by:
  • Re-select the Input and Output folders inside Mintpix.
  • Try choosing a simple output location like Desktop or Downloads to test.
  • If you’re saving to an external drive, ensure it’s mounted and not read-only.
The app is slow on large folders
For very large folders, processing may take time depending on image sizes and format. Tips:
  • Start with a smaller test folder first.
  • Close heavy apps (video editors, browsers with many tabs) to free memory.
  • Use an SSD (internal or external) for the output folder for fastest writes.
Some images are skipped
If a file is corrupted or uses an unsupported encoding, Mintpix may skip it to keep your batch moving. Try re-exporting the image from Preview or Photos, then run Mintpix again.
I can’t find the Mintpix version number
In Mintpix, open the menu bar and choose Mintpix → About Mintpix. Include that version number when contacting support.
The app won’t open (Gatekeeper / security warning)
If you installed Mintpix outside the Mac App Store, macOS may warn you about new apps. For the Mac App Store version, launch normally from Applications. If you still see issues, contact support with a screenshot of the message.

If you’re still stuck: include the exact error text + a screenshot and we’ll get it sorted quickly.
